Drift 046—The Bark Remembers

There are words carved into the bark of the beech trees along the path.

I have been walking past them long enough that I stopped seeing them.

This morning I didn’t.

The letters have spread with the tree — wider now, softer at the edges, the way intentions do when time passes and novelty fades.

The clearings behind them are still there.

Still waiting.

Did something stay with you?
